Personal Worst! And It Was Great!

Boston is in the books. I ran my slowest marathon ever. And it was fantastic! No pressure. No worries. Smiling all the way. And yes, I finished. Boston on 42 days of training. Way cool.

On the bus back to Hopkinton, I sat with a runner named Dave, who, when I asked how his day was, replied, “Personal Worst! My slowest ever!”

“Me too!”

And we had a grand ride back to Hopkinton, complete with my second annual Marathon Bus Adventure. Last year it was playing medic to the poor guy laying on the bus floor with his knee locked. This year it was flagging traffic to a stop on the busy road to Upton so the bus driver could turn around after his wrong turn. It’s always something! Best part was when I laughed and told the driver about my previous year’s adventure, he remarked, “Yep, I heard about that.” I guess you’ve got to be famous for something, right?

Dave gave me a lift home, and I’ve borrowed his phrase to describe my day, but I say it with pride, since I really didn’t expect to finish, having trained a mere 42 days and 140 miles since returning from my foot surgery. Personal Worst, and I’m thrilled with it.

Now, it’s been a busy day after, and I haven’t written up the whole story, so this entry is just a place-holder. Check back in a few days and I’ll post a real story.

But what I did get done today was the cropping and editing of over 200 pictures I captured with my mini-camera before, during, and after the race. And I’m pleased to say that the plan worked – not only did the camera rigging system work, but everyone absolutely loved the concept when I handed out the little slips with the blog address. Who wouldn’t love a race picture for zero dollars, compared to Corpo-Marathono-Photo-O? (I even got a picture of one of the Mr. Corpo-Marathono-Photo-O men himself. And yes, I gave him a slip.) Ah, yes, my diabolical scheme to quadruple my readership from, oh, three, to perhaps, oh, twelve!

So, it’s late tonight, but please check back over the next week or two and I will get pictures posted as I promised. I think you’ll be pleased, amused, and even tickled.

All for tonight, must sleep.

And he's waiting to see his picture!

  2. Dear Corpo-Marathono-Photo-O Man!

I'm tickled to death that you are the first of the many slip-ees to drop in a comment. My first order of business is to get the whole marathon story posted, and then the photos will begin! Yours, I'm pleased to say, came out well! If you'd like yours quicker, drop me an email to secondlap@comcast.net. I'll send you the full resolution version this weekend.

Of course I am tempted to say, "Wanna' trade?!" but true to my word, mine are just for fun and free.

    Cheers...GMC
